Never let it be said that Jerry Seinfeld doesn’t have style. Despite the everyman attire he is often seen sporting on the 1990s smash hit Seinfeld, and the regular suits and sports coats he adorns during his standup routine.

After all, streetwear brand Kith chose no less than Seinfeld, 68, as the man behind its latest campaign.

At first glance, given that it’s Seinfeld sporting the attire, you can’t help but think of it as a joke. But this is a serious clothing campaign business.

Kith dresses Seinfeld in jackets, branded hats and even a sweatshirt for the shoot. He’s only smiling in a couple of them. That’s OK — unless you’ve made an entire career out of making people smile.

Basically, the whole thing has seemed a little odd, and the Internet has reacted accordingly.

Jerry Seinfeld, The COOL Uncle

“Best joke of the year,” read one of the responses on Twitter.

“Wait, when did Jerry sign with Roc-A-Fella?” read another.

“Do all wildly successful comedians lose all fashion sense as they get older?” asked one more.

Of course, Seinfeld and Kith also received plenty of support.

“Let’s see, (people) get upset when Brad Pitt wears a skirt, or Timmie C wears a backless blouse, and now Jerry here is mocked for wearing street wear,” wrote one user. “Do y’all want these men to buy their clothes at Costco? I don’t understand all the criticism.”

Either way, there’s no shame in the Seinfeld household. His wife, Jessica, also shared the images on her Instagram account.

“Back to school with @kith,” she wrote. “Dreamed up by a good boy from Queens, Kith founder @ronniefieg. Shot by His Excellency @markseliger.”
