About two weeks ago, Bertinelli teamed up with Twitter users to protest captain Elon Musk’s new policies. The billionaire’s controversial changes involve forcing mass layoffs and sticking the remaining employees with “long hours,” per NBC News.
Earlier this month, Bertinelli changed her name to “Elon Musk” on Twitter to show flaws in the social media giant’s new verification system, according to Business Insider. To get technical, she made the name change on Saturday.
Valerie Bertinelli made the move amid Twitter’s universally loathed new paid-verification system.
While she was at it, Bertinelli posted a slew of tweets in support of candidates for the Democratic Party.
Bertinelli subsequently changed her name back on Sunday, reportedly saying, “I think I made my point.”

Her point on that specific criticism, that is. Valerie Bertinelli is also tearing into Twitter for forcing high-profile individuals who want the precious “Verified Account” icon to pay a monthly “subscription” plan.

Bertinelli, whose Twitter handle is @wolfiesmom, went on to explain that users now have to pay $7.99 a month to have a blue checkmark. The subscription no longer actually verifies your identity, however. In turn, that leads to questions of account security as it seems that now anyone can impersonate anyone else.
While Twitter users like Valerie Bertinelli may not be able to change their account handle to the same name that they’re impersonating, they can make it very similar. And changing your name is also very easy to do.
I think poor Valerie has some issues. She just doesn’t seem very stable these days.
