Cher is just as gorgeous as ever these days at 76 years old. She’s unafraid to blaze her own path, whether in love or on stage. As such, Cher has hooked herself a sexy man 40 years her junior, music executive Alexander Edwards. Fans and haters alike have a mixed bag of opinions on the age gap, and now Cher is defending herself online.

Cher Posted a Photo of Beau Alexander Edwards to Twitter
It all started with Cher posting a photo of Alexander Edwards to her social media. “Alexander,” she captioned, along with a heart emoji. It was simple, to the point, and frankly, an honest admission of love. So why does anyone have a problem with it?
Some people were quick to throw the punches, seemingly forgetting that Cher is 76 and probably knows what she’s doing.
“I’m not sure how I feel about this,” wrote one user. “I’ve been a fan for so long that I’m immediately suspicious of his intentions towards you. WE know you are fabulous and I’m sure your inner circle will continue to have your back. Want you to be happy, but not taken advantage of!!!”
Cher was quick to respond.
“As we All Know …I WASNT BORN YESTERDAY,& What I Know For Sure…There Are No Guarantees. Anytime you make a Choice You Take a Chance. I’ve Always Taken Chances…It’s WHO I Am.”
The Queen of Pop has certainly spoken out about taking chances before. Speaking with People in the context of how she’s caught flack for pushing the envelope in the beauty world. Whether it was a risqué dress or partaking in a beauty campaign, Cher has been boldly going where many women have not for the entire course of her career.
“I paid a big price for doing [the infomercials]. I took so much heat from that, really … [now] things have changed completely,” she told People. “You keep going and that’s the challenge. Things don’t always go right, and you have to be willing to just put yourself out there, put your ass on the line, put a big target on it and then keep going.”
She also said that it’s important to “do life on your own terms.” “You know what?” she added. “You never stop being a girl. If you never stop being a girl, you’ll never get old.”
That sentiment can ring true in matters of the spirit and heart as well as the body. So why are people basically telling her who to love based on her age?

Not everyone was ragging on Cher, though. Some were applauding her younger boyfriend, noting that if anyone could date someone that much younger, it was her. (To be fair, Madonna can do it too and so can Leo DiCaprio).
“Yess, 40-year age difference. Only Cher. Love it!” said one person.
Cher responded to this with some sage words.
“LOVE DOESNT KNOW MATH, IT SEES. RINPOCHE TOLD ME ‘SOME PPL MEET, OTHERS ‘RECOGNIZE.’ “
Cher and Alexander Edwards Met at Paris Fashion Week
Alexander Edwards, 36, is an Oakland, California native and music executive for Def Jam Recordings, a part of Universal Music Group (UMG). He’s also the vice president of the Artists and Repertoire division of Def Jam Recordings. Edwards is also a rapper, known for collaborating with Tyga.
Edwards caught a lot of media attention when he was dating Amber Rose. He was also on an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians during his relationship with Rose. The two had a son, Slash Electric Alexander Edwards, together in October 2019. There were rumors that Edwards cheated on Rose at one point.
Cher and Edwards were hounded by paparazzi not long ago when they were seen out on a date at Craig’s in West Hollywood. The two were holding hands and looking sleek in all-black from head to two. A couple days later, Cher starred in a Balmain ad campaign featuring her in the designer’s iconic cat suit.
Alexander Is In Love, Too
When asked by the pap about “What’s up with you and Cher?” Edwards wasn’t shy about his love. He turned to the cameras, held his heart, and smiled from ear to ear.
“Aw, love her, man,” he said.
The love is obviously reciprocated. Cher said on Twitter that she’d already introduced Edwards to her whole family and that he treats her “like a queen.”
Cher also confirmed that she and Alexander Edwards met at Paris Fashion Week, where the Queen herself walked the catwalk in Balmain’s cat suit, stunning audiences at 76.
Let’s get real. All women need to be treated like Queens. And Cher has had some rough times. The late Sonny, Cher’s ex-husband, and music partner, allegedly cheated on her. She referred to him as a “womanizer.”
Get it, Cher, we love you and Alexander Edwards together. And because of you, we believe in life after love.
