For some members of the audience, and the panel of hosts, The View is different these days. Among those who have noticed? No less than Whoopi Goldberg.

This was something she discussed when asked about former co-host Meghan McCain, the former lone conservative voice on the show. McCain exited and was replaced by Alyssa Farah Griffin and Ana Navarro.

“It’s calmer because nobody wants to be that tired every day,” Goldberg, 66, told Page Six.

She added that her debates with McCain became very evident, and not just based on what was said. You could also see the exasperation in the way Goldberg looked.

“My daughter would say to me, ‘I can see your face!’ [And I would say] ‘OK, I’ll be better,’” Goldberg told Page Six.

Meghan McCain Reveals What Made Her Quit ‘The View’

McCain, 37, is the daughter of late Sen. John McCain and her run on The View began in 2017. This is the first season without her.

She once said having Goldberg hold an on-air grudge was tougher to deal with than when any other co-hosts did so, given Goldberg’s global fame.

“The thing about Whoopi … is that she yields so much power in culture and television, and once she turns on you, it can create unfathomable tension at the table,” she said in her 2021 audio memoir, Bad Republican.

“I found her open disdain for me more and more difficult to manage as the years went on, and it became more frequent. Occasionally, if the show’s political discourse veered into territory that she found disagreeable, Whoopi would cut me off, sometimes harshly.”

Despite their on-air differences, Whoopi Goldberg indicated everyone got along just fine behind the scenes.

“People felt like they wanted to go home,” she said. “There was no point in fighting. You do what you do and you go home and do what you love to do. And hopefully, everybody is now happier.”
