This refering to the new fantasy shows House of the Dragon and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Goldberg went out and called out several fans for accepting fantasy creatures such as dragons and hobits, but not accepting black actors.

“They don’t exist in the real world,” Goldberg stated. “You know that? There are no dragons. There are no hobbits. Are you telling me Black people can’t be fake people too? Is that what you’re telling me? I don’t know if there’s like a hobbit club, I don’t know if there are gonna be protests, but people! What is wrong with y’all?”

She went on to add, “All of y’all who have problems because there are Black hobbits… Get a job! Get a job! Go find yourself, because you are focused on the wrong stuff.” Co-host Sunny Hostin also shared her disbelief while discussing the new House of the Dragon series, saying, “What I think is fascinating is like, dragons are okay — fire-breathing dragons — and people with white hair that are born like that when they’re little, and violet eyes, but the Black people in it is just a bridge too far for these folks.”

Before the release of House of Dragon actor Steve Toussaint revealed that before the series officially kicked off on HBO, he had to deal with several racist backlashes from fans after he was publicly cast as Lord Corlys Velaryon.

“It seems to be very hard for people to swallow. They are happy with a dragon flying. They’re happy with white hair and violet-colored eyes, but a rich Black guy? That’s beyond the pale,” he stated. Goldberg went out to criticize several fantasy fans telling them that they should begin to prepare to deal with a black woman playing Ariel in Disney’s live-action film, The Little Mermaid. Singer Halle Bailey was cast as Ariel in the Rob Marshall film, which is set to open in May 2023.

“Y’all are gonna lose your minds when you see the new Ariel, because you know — and I don’t want to upset any mermaids who are watching the show, you know, because I know there are many communities of mermaids of various colors,” Whoopi Goldberg said.

“And when I say ‘of various colors,’ I’m not playing. There are violet mermaids, there are pink mermaids, there are Black mermaids, there are Latina mermaids, there are mermaids of every ilk. And you know why there can be? Because it’s the world that we would like to see better.”

House of the Dragon is currently streaming on HBO and The Ring of Power is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

  1. whoopi Goldberg is the most racist person on TV. i use to love to watch her movies, now you couldn’t pay me enough. her thoughts are taking Americans back to the days of slavery, but if she were my slave i’d feed her to the crocodiles. she has the mind of a teenager whose trying to piss her parents off. it turns my stomach to even see her picture let alone watch this horrible show. i really don’t understand how it stays on the air. i hope she hits her knees and asks God for forgiveness.

  2. Whooping you are on it.People would protest their own mother. I am Sick of these who protest even Mr. Potato head. I can understand protesting war in the60’s. I don’t care if there black, white, yellow, all I care if they treat me with respect. Asso’s come in all colors.
