Sorry Madonna fans, we’ve got some bad news! The singer’s self-directed biopic, which was set to star Julia Garner, has officially been scrapped after studio executives were reportedly weirded out by her social media posts.

According to an Insider who spoke to Page Six, Hollywood directors thought Madonna was busy writing her biopic but her Instgarm told a whole different story.

“Basically, they don’t like it,” the insider stated “They want it to be pop and light. Madonna wants something much grittier, and it’s come to a stalemate.”

“She’d rather go to another studio than change the script. She still wants to make the film, but will now look at it again after the tour,” the insider continued. “She’s keeping the same writers, but is aware that she might have to recast if the actors aren’t available.”

During an Instagram Live session back in September 2020, Madonna had revealed that the film was set to cover her struggles as an artist “trying to survive in a man’s world as a woman.” She had first teamed up with Diablo Cody before replacing her with Erin Wilson, who wrote the screenplays for “The Girl on the Train” and “Secretary.” Universal is set to lose between $10 million and $12 million due to the failed film.

Garner had won the role of the singer following a 16-week-long dancing and singing boot camp said to be attended by Alexa Demie, Odessa Young, Florence Pugh, and Bebe Rexha. Fear not, the delay of the film won’t slow down Garner, who recently won an Emmy and a Golden Globe for her work on “Ozark.”

She is signed to film “The Royal Hotel,” which is a thriller about two young women backpacking in Australia, as well as another thriller, “Apartment 7A.”
