Oh, joy — The View appears to have another controversy brewing, this time between co-hosts Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg.
Gossip website Suggest said Tuesday that Behar is trying to get Goldberg fired so she can be The View’s only senior host.
“Joy’s been quietly campaigning for Whoopi’s removal,” a source allegedly said, according to Suggest. “She’s said for months now Whoopi’s a liability and it’s in everyone’s interest if she gets greased so the rating can improve and they can bring in new talent.”
Behar joined ABC’s The View as co-host in 1997, the year the show began. Aside from a two-year hiatus from 2013 to 2015, she has had a seat at the table ever since. She is the longest-serving member of the show.
Meanwhile, Goldberg came aboard the morning talk show in 2007. She still occupies one of the guest-host seats — a 15-year streak.
A ‘View’ To A Killer Paycheck
Goldberg is the biggest name on The View by far. She is a legendary comedian, has appeared in numerous movies, TV shows, and Broadway productions. She is also one of just 16 people to have achieved the EGOT, winning an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony award.
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Goldberg had a net worth of $60 million last year. Her annual salary for The View was around $8 million.
Joy Behar has the longest tenure at The View of all the panelists. She was one of the original co-hosts when Barbara Walters started the show in 1997. With the exception of a break in 2014, she was on an impressive 22 of the show’s 24 seasons as of last year.
Behar got her start in show business as a stand-up comedian and was a television and radio talk show host before her career-defining stint on The View. Per Celebrity Net Worth, Behar’s net worth is $30 million and her salary on The View is $7 million.
