Law & Order is bringing two fresh faces aboard a pair of the franchise’s shows: Claire Coffee and Molly Burnett.
Coffee, formerly of Grimm, will appear in Law & Order’s next season, TVLine.com reported on Monday.
Meanwhile, Burnett will be in the upcoming season of Law & Order: SVU, according to a Tuesday report on TVLine.com. She is best known for her previous roles on Days of Our Lives and Queen of the South.
Coffee will reportedly play a lawyer in one or more episodes in the next season of Law & Order — its 22nd. She previously played witch-like character Adalind Schade on Grimm, which was a fantasy police-procedural drama.
As for Burnett, she will reportedly take on the role of Det. Grace Muncy in Season 24 of Law & Order: SVU.
The Indestructible Law & Order
In mid-May, NBC said it had renewed Law & Order for another season.
Lisa Katz, President, Scripted Programming, NBCU Entertainment and Streaming provided a statement at the time.
“The iconic ‘Law & Order’ brand has long been synonymous with NBC,” she said. “We couldn’t be more excited to bring back all three of these dramas for the 2022-23 season. It’s a testament to the brilliance of Dick Wolf’s storytelling that audiences remain compelled by these unforgettable characters week after week, year after year.”
The news of Coffee’s and Burnett’s castings come about a month after reports that Law & Order would return with another fresh face. Former Supergirl co-star Mehcad Brooks will replace Anthony Anderson in the long-running serial drama.
Brooks will pair with Jeffrey Donovan as he tries to solve the toughest cases in the toughest city in America.
While the casting news will delight many fans of the franchise, they mourned sad news that occurred last week.
The 31-year-old man was reportedly in his car, enforcing a parking ban for production of the show early Tuesday morning. A gunman opened the driver’s car door and shot him multiple times in the face and neck, Forbes said.
The man was then taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
