The wildly prolific Margot Robbie already had three films in the can before the 2013 smash hit from Martin Scorsese. But it was the black comedy — and her stunning nude scene — that marked the actor’s breakthrough.
Clad in just stockings and heels, Robbie took the breath away from DiCaprio’s depraved Wall Street fraudster, Jordan Belfort. Based on his 2007 memoir, Robbie plays his wife; the scene takes place as the actors try to court each other.
Robbie Turned to Liquid Courage for Nerve-Wracking Scene
“I’m not going to lie, I had a couple of shots of tequila before that scene because I was nervous – very, very nervous,” Robbie told Independent.
“Honestly, I know it sounds silly now, knowing how big the movie became, at the time I thought, ‘No one is going to notice me in this film,’” Robbie said. “It kind of doesn’t matter what I do in this film because everyone is going to be focused on Leo and everything.”
The movie made $406 million at the box office, making it Scorsese’s highest-grossing picture to date.
Margot Robbie Gets on the Map
DiCaprio, Scorsese, and co-star Jonah Hill all received Academy Award nominations for their work in The Wolf of Wall Street. While Margot Robbie didn’t get one, the movie set her up for future success.
The Australian actress earned nominations for Best Actress in 2018, for I, Tonya and one for Best Supporting Actress the following year, for Bombshell.
