Disney+ is betting on Lisette Olivera, not Nicolas Cage, as its next “national treasure.”

The streaming service on Thursday released a teaser trailer of the latest installment of the National Treasure franchise. National Treasure: Edge of History will be a Disney+ Original series, not a film.

Disney+ said in a statement that the show will be “an expansion” of the franchise. It will be told from the point of view of “a young heroine, Jess.”

The program’s main character, which Lisette Olivera will play, is “a brilliant and resourceful DREAMer in search of answers about her family.” She “embarks on the adventure of a lifetime to uncover the truth about the past and save a lost Pan-American treasure,” according to DisneyPlusOriginals.Disney.com.

Catherine Zeta-Jones, Justin Bartha and Harvey Keitel will also star in the TV show.

Meanwhile, Mira Nair (Monsoon Wedding) is directing National Treasure: Edge of History. Additionally, Rick Muirragui (Men of a Certain Age) is writing the program.

Disney has yet to announce a release date for the series.

Who Is The New Disney+ Star Lisette Olivera?

Lisette Olivera’s name isn’t familiar to many moviegoers. The actor used the name “Lisette Alexis” in her previous work.

First, she played Belle in the 2019 web series Total Eclipse. Then she appeared as Amy in last year’s psychological-horror film We Need to Do Something.

While Nicolas Cage isn’t slated to appear in the new Disney+ reboot of National Treasure, he does’t hesitate from discussing his role in the films.

“As Ben Gates, I stole the Declaration of Independence,” Cage said in a video interview with Wired in April. “Imagine that. Kaboom.”

First, Cage played Gates — formally named “Benjamin Franklin Gates” — in 2004’s National Treasure. Three years later, he reprised the role in National Treasure: Book of Secrets.
