It’s also been reported that actor Kit Harington is set to return to reprise his role as Jon Snow and pick up where the Game of Thrones finale left off. It’s a role that earned Harington two Emmy nominations from HBO’s most popular series of all-time.

In the series finale Snow learned that his real name was Aegon Targaryen. This made him a potential heir to the Iron Throne. He was also exiled from Westeros and made his way North of the Wall to live with the Wildings.

Since wrapping up GoT, Harrington co-starred in 2021’s Eternals, a superhero movie based on the Marvel Comics of the same name. He also recently played the title role in the National Theater’s live production of Henry V.

This news comes as the Game of Thrones prequel series, House of the Dragon, is set to debut

This news comes as the Game of Thrones prequel series, House of the Dragon, is set to debut in August. The House of the Dragon series is based on events that took place about 200 years before the original series.

There are several other projects from the Thrones universe in the works, but this one is believed to be the only one that is not a prequel. THR theorizes that the Jon Snow spin-off could open the door for more spin-offs involving other surviving characters.

In theory, the project could open the door for other surviving characters from the Thrones universe to reappear – such as Arya Stark (Maisie Williams), Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) and Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie).

The Jon Snow sequel news means there are now seven Game of Thrones projects, both live action and animated, in the works. In addition to the House of Dragons series and the Jon Snow prequel, there are prequels- 10,000 Ships, 9 Voyages, and Dunk and Egg all in development. And three animated prequel projects, including The Golden Empire.
