It’s been a long, long run for The Walking Dead, some might tell you too long. But now, the AMC smash hit is finally reaching an end.
But it’s only the end of The Walking Dead. At least one spinoff awaits.
And while Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan) could not attend the latest Comic-Con in San Diego, they did deliver a video message.
“The end of Walking Dead is so near and dear to us,” Morgan said. “Saying goodbye to our fellow cast, crew, and fans has been extremely difficult.”
Cohan added, “We’ll be on screen there sooner than that because we’re not there with you now.”
The Walking Dead sort of tanked in the ratings once Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) left back in 2018. But the zombie apocalypse will march on, as Morgan teased to the Comic-Con crowd.
“We can’t wait for you to see it,” he said,. “In the meantime, you guys keep watching The Walking Dead. Learn how we get from there to here.”
Per Comicbook.com:
“Isle of the Dead is scheduled to premiere in 2023 on AMC and AMC+. Other announced spinoffs include the untitled Daryl Dixon show starring Norman Reedus and the untitled Rick Grimes and Michonne spinoff series reuniting Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira, both announced for 2023.”
