Amid another exhausting news week, it seems apropos to revisit a classic day-drinking clip.

Seth Meyers spends most of the week giving withering “Closer Looks” at the latest headlines in news and politics. Except when he’s kicking back with a beverage … or three.

Amid another exhausting news week, it seems apropos to revisit a classic day-drinking clip from Late Night With Seth Meyers. Specifically, his sunny outing with Kelly Clarkson in early 2018.

“With all the crazy stuff going on in the world these days, sometimes you just need to take a break and drink during the afternoon,” a disheveled Meyers said at the top of the clip.

We couldn’t agree more. In the spirit of Meyers’ declaration, we joined him and Clarkson for their unforgettable throw-down.

Seth Meyers And Kelly Clarkson Get Hammered

Seth & Kelly Go Day Drinking starts simply enough … with Seth Meyers chugging an entire beer like a frat bro. A few seconds later, he and Clarkson begin mixing and pouring some specialty cocktails.

Meyers blends “The Simon Cowell,” which consists of hot sauce, vodka, more hot sauce, bitters — and yet more hot sauce.

Pretty soon, he and Clarkson are watery-eyed. Amusingly, the segment’s View-style soft-focus lens emphasizes the sun blasting in through the tall windows.

Meyers makes another cocktail behind the massive bar: “The Grammy.” (Clarkson has three of them.) Consisting of brandy and 12 Wethers Originals blended together, Meyers compliments himself by drinking it and saying, “That’s a very good drink.”

“Dude, you are a liar,” Kelly Clarkson quips.

Accordingly, she takes over the massive bar.

Clarkson makes a “Blake Shelton,” which includes Tennessee whiskey, Southern Comfort, and bananas — because of his romance with Gwen Stefani. She and Meyers down the drinks.

The antics get wilder from there.

Next, Meyers puts on noise-canceling headphones and subjects Clarkson to his slobbery singing of “Since U Been Gone.” She takes it in stride, though, heaping him with some undeserved praise — at which point Meyers sings the song again.

The hilarious segment closes with Meyers and Clarkson screaming “honest truths” they wrote for each other atop the roof of the building.

“I’m only doing this because I’m contractually obligated to do NBC press!” Clarkson shouts.

“I peaked at 41,” Meyers yells.

Well, Meyers can take heart in knowing that — at age 48 — he seems to be doing better than ever. Not only is he still on late night, his wife, Alexi Ashe, gave birth to their third child last year.
