Kelly Clarkson was the phenom of another reality-TV singing competition, American Idol. (She was also featured in a classic day-drinking segment on Late Night With Seth Meyers.) Twenty-five-year-old singer Camila Cabello will take her seat on Season 22 of The Voice.

So, why did Clarkson leave the show, anyway? Well, for those wondering, she decided to spend more time with her family.

Clarkson elaborated on her decision earlier this year on The Kelly Clarkson Show, her daytime variety show.

“I’ve decided this year there’s just [going to] be a couple changes for me that I can’t say here,” she said, as Music Mayhem Magazine noted. “But there are a couple of things happening. I’ve been able to make more time just for me and my kiddos and still be able to work. Just where we can get away on weekends and really do some fun stuff with my kids.”

She continued: “’Cause they only want to hang out with you for so long and that’s now so I gotta take advantage of that … I’m excited to have more time with them. I mean I have a ton of time in the morning but I don’t know, I’m selfish. They’re fun.”

Who Is Kelly Clarkson’s Replacement On The Voice?

Camila Cabello has plenty of experience in singing competitions to over qualify as Kelly Clarkson’s replacement. She became a star after appearing in The X Factor USA and then joining Legend’s team during the previous season of The Voice as a mentor.

Cabello and co-coach Blake Shelton teased each other in recent video promos for Season 22 of The Voice.

Season 22 will be the second consecutive season with a first-time coach after Season 21 welcomed Ariana Grande to the group. Last season also featured Jason Aldean as a mentor for Clarkson’s team, and Kristin Chenoweth was in the same role for Team Ariana. Country megastar Dierks Bentley joined as the mentor for Team Blake. The season ended with Clarkson’s act, Girl Named Tom, winning the show.
