Army Specialist Matthew Kelly wanted to do something special for his family when he came home from Kuwait.  So he contacted his local Las Vegas news affiliate to ask for help planning a surprise homecoming that they would never forget.

Reporter Vicki Gonzalez gathered his mother, stepfather, and two sisters in Las Vegas under the guise of giving them a free weekend on the town. They received a cabin at the High Roller, dinner at Off The Strip, and tickets to see Olivia Newton-John’s new show, Summer Nights.

They thought they were also going to be treated to a video from Kelly, but little did they know that he had something better planned.

He surprised them with a live, on-air reunion, — and in between the tears and hugs, his mom admonished him, saying, “You didn’t even tell me!” with a “Sorry, mom” from Kelly and a reminder that “I told you I would get you guys one day.”
