Jacob Cadriel survived two tours of duty in Iraq with the Army before coming back home to Houston, Texas with his wife and four-year-old son. His family thought he would be safe on American soil, but tragedy still struck.
After serving in the Army, Cadriel began working in a metal shop. He was shot by his coworker, Steven Young, after the two got into an argument. Cadriel was taken to the hospital, where he died in surgery. His funeral was held yesterday, at St. Mary’s of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church. Young is being held on a $500,000 bond.
Cadriel was only 28 years old. In addition to his wife and son, he leaves behind his parents, one sister, and three brothers. His brother Antonio called him his “hero.” His family is struggling to understand how Cadriel could survive two tours of duty in a combat zone, only to come home and be killed here, where he was supposed to be safe.
