Last night, the final three had the chance to show the audience what they could do during the highly anticipated freestyle dances. For Noah Galloway, it meant getting very personal and confronting some of his most painful memories.
Galloway’s partner Sharna Burgess urged him to relive the time after he lost his arm and leg, when he woke up after being in the IED blast in Iraq that changed his life. The result was an extraordinarily powerful and moving contemporary performance to a mash-up of “Titanium” and “Fix You.”
For the first time, Noah’s injuries were on full display, as he wore nothing but a pair of grey shorts. The dance ended with a standing ovation. The audience cheered and the “Dancing with the Stars” troupe rushed the stage to embrace Galloway. New fiancé Jamie Boyd was in the audience, jumping up and down as she cheered him on. Some people could be seen wiping away tears.
The judges called the dance amazing, praising the intricacy of the choreography and the connection between Galloway and Burgess. Carrie Ann Inaba mentioned the title of one of the songs, “Fix You,” and told him, “There is nothing to fix about you.” And their scores backed up their praise, with Galloway receiving his first ever perfect score of the season.
Tune in tonight to see if Noah and Sharna win this season’s coveted Mirror Ball trophy!
