One of the six female riflemen to participate in the Marine Corps’ Ground Combat Element Integrated Task Force shares what it means to earn the title infantry woman in a new video the Corps posted to Facebook.

Cpl. Remedios Cruz said when she first heard about the infantry women study in July 2014, all she heard was “challenge.”

Cruz, who serves in Albany, N.Y., said earning the title was the hardest thing she’s ever done but she said Marines “see a challenge and overcome it.”
