The VA will expand disability benefits to veterans exposed to contaminated water at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. Marine reservists who trained there will now be eligible for care.

Former reservist Gary Ouillette said he spent the last 30 years in and out of treatment for tumors he believes were caused by Camp Lejuene. Bob Boulay, also a former Marine reservist, is suffering from kidney disease associated with contaminated water.

Florida Congressman Gus Bilirakis (R) introduced House Bill 3954 to the Committee on Veterans Affairs which got the VA to expand disability benefits for veterans exposed to the contaminated water at Lejeune between 1953 and 1987.

The VA will announce when the benefits will be available. Veterans interested in applying should visit the VA online.
