Christmas will be a little brighter for some military children in Pennsylvania, this year. They’ll have presents for the holiday thanks to Operation Homefront.

Volunteers put together a toy drive in the Pittsburgh area so military kids could pick out a few things they like.

“A huge toll has been taken on the military family over the last decade worth of fighting, and the kids often get overlooked and every time a soldier deploys, it’s terrible on the child,” Operation Homefront’s Daniel Blevins told KDKA.

Families could enjoy snacks, crafts, stocking stuffers and high-end toys during the event.

Many of the donations came from Dollar Tree shoppers who gave nearly 8 million toys to military children.

“It’s one of the best feelings in the world when you can see the joy on the little kid’s face,” Blevins said.
