Twenty-seven-year-old Tiffany Segule had been worried after a rash of home invasions occurred in her neighborhood. So when she heard her alarm go off early one morning, she got scared. She grabbed her gun, and she shot through her bedroom door — right into the chest of her husband, 28-year-old Army soldier Zia Segule.

He had come home to surprise her with breakfast in bed.

Police have not said whether Segule turned off the alarm or announced himself to his wife.

Thankfully, Segule, who is stationed at Fort Bragg, apparently will not suffer any lasting injuries. He was able to walk and talk when emergency services arrived, and has already been released from the hospital.

Tiffany has been questioned by police, who said that she has been scared due to the high number of recent break-ins in the area. Police are still investigating the shooting, but after this, Segule will surely want to be giving his wife some lessons in gun safety.
