French train hero Spencer Stone revealed that he almost died after being attacked outside of a bar in Sacramento. In an interview with CBS Sacramento, Stone said that his wounds hurt “all the time.” Stone, who had to undergo life-saving hear surgery, was stabbed four times: once in the heart, once in the left lung, once in the liver and once in the back.

While Stone declined to be interviewed on camera, the reporter who spoke with him said that the shirt he wore revealed the stitches in his chest and that he still appears to be in pain. But he was able to stand on his own and said that he is doing the best he can. He didn’t speak much about the men who attacked him, but did say that he spent a full day with police to come up with the sketches of the suspects that were released to the public earlier this week.

A GoFundMe account has been opened to help raise money for his family. While Stone’s medical costs are covered under TriCare, he is being taken care of now by his mother and his sister while he recovers. As his recovery is going to be extensive, the money will be used to help make up for their lost wages.

Police are still searching for the men responsible for his attack.
