Chris Morrissey isn’t a veteran, nor does he have any in his immediate family. But, that doesn’t make his devotion to the nation’s service members any less. The Colorado man is committed to keeping veterans alive. He stands on a Ft. Collins corner every Friday, holding a sign to raise awareness about veteran suicides. His sign reads “22 veterans commit suicide every 24 hours.”

Morrissey told The Coloradoan he stands on the corner for veterans because “these guys need to know that we care about them,” he said. “When they come home, they need to know that this country is behind them and that we appreciate their service.”

Morrissey plans to stand on the street corner every Friday until Veterans Day next month.
