Family members are desperately trying to locate an Army veteran who disappeared the night he was to attend a veterans meeting in Wisconsin.
Bruce Windorski, a former police officer and one of several Americans who traveled to Syria this year to fight ISIS on his own, has been missing since Oct. 17.
His wife, Courtney, told WLUK-TV that Bruce has been “struggling with demons” since his brother was killed in Iraq in 2009. Windorski said her husband’s trip to fight ISIS was his attempt to find closure from that death. She just wants her husband to home.
“If it is a voluntary thing, I just need him to reach out and tell me he’s okay,” said Courtney Windorski. “And if it’s not, then I need to know that I’ve explored every avenue to try and find him.”
Wisconsin justice officials issued an alert for Windorski over the weekend. The veteran suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder and has not been taking his medication.
Windorski drives a gray 2003 Dodge Durango truck with Menominee Nation plate A9658.
