On Monday, March 27 during the show’s super competitive battle rounds, 25-year-old Enid Ortiz faced off against Valerie Ponzio, 32, in a heart-wrenching rendition of former “The Voice” contestant RaeLynn’s “Love Triangle.”

Enid, who donned a sparkly black outfit complete with a flower pinned to her hair, opened up the tune with the first verse. She showed off her rich tone and powerhouse vocals, while utilizing simple hand gestures to show that she could feel the music. Then, Valerie put her impressive spin on the second verse. She donned a red pencil dress and flaunted her stunning vocals that had a unique rasp.

Both singers, then, took turns singing parts of the chorus, before coming together in perfect harmony. Their angelic blend of harmonies dazzled the whole row of coaches, but ultimately, it was up to Blake Shelton to make the final call on who would stay in the competition.

While both contestants brought substance to the poignant ballad, Blake decided to make Enid the winner. He reasoned his decision by saying, “I try to reward the person in these moments that did the most.”

Enid will now move on to the knockout rounds. Keep up with season 12 of “The Voice” Monday and Tuesday nights on NBC. Watch the performance above to see Enid and Valerie’s touching rendition of “Love Triangle.”
