Florida resident Brandy Szanyi was a vibrant 15-year-old who should have been going to school and hanging out with her friends on a Friday night. Instead, she was in a hospital battling the devastating effects of the flu.

And on March 31, she lost her battle.
Yet, before she passed away and before her family was thrust into what is sure to be a time of despair, Brandy and her family enjoyed some precious time with one of their favorite country music stars — Tracy Lawrence. In fact, according to a story on WFTS-TV, Tracy came to the hospital to visit Brandy just days before she succumbed to what is usually a treatable illness.

After hearing the news, Tracy released a statement to express his sadness over Brandy’s death. “I woke this morning to the news that Brandy had passed. My heart is broken for her parents, sister and loved ones. Losing Brandy hits very close to home being I have a daughter her age. I hope the Szanyis find peace in this difficult time and know that their beautiful daughter is now watching over them.”
Tracy followed it up with a message on his socials, saying “My heart is broken for Brandy’s parents, sister and loved ones. I hope the Szanyis find peace in this difficult time.”
