The day that award shows announce their official nominations are usually a big deal. Some artists watch the TV hoping to hear their names called and others hit the gym waiting for a call from their manager or record label with the news. But almost everyone hopes to be a contender.
When the ACM Award nominations were announced by Lady Antebellum on “CBS This Morning” Feb. 16, you can bet there were as many country music fans hoping to hear their favorite star’s name announced as there were singers with their fingers crossed. And while Keith Urban, Luke Bryan and Miranda Lambert supporters weren’t disappointed, those that stand behind two of country’s most successful artists were shocked and outraged.
Blake brings country music to the most diverse audiences, sells out everywhere he goes, is philanthropic. I will #BoycottACMs

it should be boycotted. Two of the best in the business and get snubbed once again. Won't be watching that's for sure

Now, now only are they standing behind Garth Brooks and Blake Shelton, they’re standing up for them. In fact, some of them took to social media suggesting a boycott of the popular west coast award show because of the omissions.
Blake and Garth are arguably the two biggest country stars in the world. They don't need ACMs to sell albums or sell out tours.

Blake 100% deserves it but doesn't need it! People voted awards are what count not politically driven ones #BoycottACMs

Rare Country took to Twitter and asked fans how they felt about the nominations. While many expressed their profound disappointment, others shared thoughts on the political aspect of the nomination. And others wanted to make it clear that their support of Garth and Blake was in no way meant to undermine the achievements of the nominated stars. Classy!
@blakeshelton always promotes country music and Garth is the biggest country star. Definitely not fans voting. #BoycottACMs

Oh, and I do whole heartily APOLOGIZE to @LukeBryanOnline & his FANS! #BOYCOTTACMs

Our heartiest congratulations go out to all of the nominees, but we also have a standing ovation for the amazing fans who stand behind their favorite artists no matter how many awards are on their mantles. We’re pretty sure that with fans like y’all, Garth and Blake don’t mind sitting this one out.
For those who are watching, the ACM Awards will broadcast live from Las Vegas April 2 on CBS.
