She is beautiful, smart and talented.

But Carly Pearce isn’t afraid to reveal her truth.

While the 26-year-old currently finds herself in the country music spotlight thanks to her current heartbreaker of a song, “Every Little Thing,” she admits that there were times where her faith has wavered during her long journey to country music stardom.

“I always prayed,” Carly tells Rare Country. “This is the honest truth – I would pray, ‘God, if this isn’t your plan for me, take it away from me, just take it away.’ And every single time I prayed that prayer, some little thing would happen and I would go, ‘All right, I’m going to keep going.’”

It was these little signs from the good Lord above that gave Carly the strength she needed to persevere with a career that had its roots in bluegrass when she was just 11 years old. From there, she went on to work five days a week as a performer at Dollywood and eventually make her way into Nashville’s songwriting community.

And while she was looking above for guidance during that entire time, she was also looking around right here on earth for the inspiration she desperately needed.

“My grandmother and my mom have both been really, really strong women that have taught me to look to God first and to trust in my faith,” the Kentucky native explains. “[They have also taught me] to work as hard as the boys. And I think that I have a little bit of that, we call it the ‘Pearce grit,’ of just knowing you can do it and be tough. Having that strong foundation of God and having the strong foundation my family [has] always taught me [to] go after it. You’ve got to be tough.”

This inner toughness was something she was taught, but did not fully understand until she got older.

“I was growing up trying to figure out who I was,” Carly admits. “And I think I finally got that fire in me [and believed that I was] going to be as tough as the boys. I’m going to outwork and I’m going to show this town that I have something to say and I’m sticking around and I feel like I’m so thankful that I did that.”

And so are we.
