Darius Rucker just turned in a stunning, Indy 500 rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner”

God knows that country music fans are known to love their NASCAR racing. Yet, on Memorial Day weekend, we all become pure racing fans as we join hundreds of thousands of people tuning in to watch the Indy 500.

Indeed, the tradition of the event is something to behold, and in 2016, the race’s 100th anniversary brought an overwhelming feeling of pomp and circumstance. And leave it to a country music staple to make the day even more beautiful.

Darius Rucker made country fans proud as he stood to deliver a stunning rendition of the National Anthem just minutes before the beginning of the Indy 500. With his Southern drawl on full display, Darius was both understated yet down right gorgeous in his delivery on the patriotic song.

The performance served as the perfect warm-up for the three-time GRAMMY Award winner, who will kick off his 2016 Good for a Good Time Tour in Tampa, Fla. on June 3 alongside openers Dan + Shay and Michael Ray.
