There’s no doubt that Eric Church is one of country music’s hottest hunks, so news that he’s stripping down for his next show would likely make some of his fans over-the-top excited. Those are the fans that love music in its purest form.

Now, this isn’t typically what fans can expect to see during one of Eric’s shows. His concerts are usually crazy — with lots of energy, pyro and volume. But in his next show, he just can’t do it. It isn’t that he doesn’t want to. He literally can’t.

The show is in Calgary, Canada where they have received 11.3 centimeters (more than 4 inches) of snow this month. According to the Calgary Sun, the extra weight of the snow has exceeded the load-bearing limit of the Saddledome’s roof, where Eric is scheduled to perform on March 11. That means that any of the speaker, light and effect rigging that Eric would need to do his full show could bring down the roof of the facility, which also is the ice rink for the city’s hockey team, the Calgary Flames.
This isn’t the first time that Eric has had to scale down his show due to unforeseen circumstances. The Sun reminds us that in 2015, Eric did a mostly acoustic set in Salt Lake City after much of his band was affected by a vicious strain of flu. He just didn’t want to disappoint his fans.

So, it isn’t a matter of Eric’s ability to do an acoustic set — we’ve seen it and it’s damn good — it’s just that some fans might be expecting something more.
We think they might be pleasantly surprised! Salt Lake City sure was!
