That’s exactly what happened on Sept. 23, when rising country star Kane Brown was hit with some horrible news from back home. Shared on his Facebook page with the simple words “R.I.P. Papa I Love You,” Kane quickly found himself thrust into mourning.

And just hours before he would put the pain behind him and step onstage to fulfill his opening duties on Florida Georgia Line’s Dig Your Roots Tour, Kane had something else to share with his legions of fans.

“My family and I lost a great man today,” Kane shared before a gorgeous black-and-white pic of him staring out into a sunset. “I know I’m not home with y’all but I know he’s on the road with me now :100: rest in peace papa you will always be in our heart!”

We send our thoughts and prayers to Kane and his family during this difficult time.
