Most people would probably agree that country music is known for its sad songs about loss and heartbreak. But, every now and then, a big artist goes in a different direction and dazzles us with a cheerful tune full of inspiration and hope.

And, Reba McEntire did just that.

The country music legend borrowed “Oh Happy Day” from the gospel genre and recently dropped her lyric video for the tune. The faith-filled hit that dates all the way back to the mid-18th century, has been covered by numerous acts. But, it’s no doubt that Reba made it her own. She pleases us with her signature southern twang that’s spectacular enough to make you want to rejoice!

“Oh Happy Day” is one of many tracks featured on Reba’s first-ever gospel album, “Sing it Now: Songs of Faith & Hope.” The upcoming project, which Reba unveiled on Facebook Live, is a two-disc set that includes 10 hymns and 10 new songs! Rascal Flatts’ Jay DeMarcus and band leader/musical director Doug Sisemore co-produced the album. Some other highlights that can be found on the record include the first song Reba ever sang in public, “Jesus Loves Me,” a duet called “Softly and Tenderly” featuring special guests Kelly Clarkson and Trisha Yearwood, and the album’s first-single, “Back to God.”
