Most fans know of Waylon Jennings’ musician son Shooter, but these days it’s his eldest son, Terry, who is sharing stories about his famous daddy.

Being on the road with Waylon since his early teens, Terry saw and did many things with his pop. Now those behind-closed-doors stories are in his new book, “Waylon Tales Of My Outlaw Dad,” a project the two discussed long before Waylon passed.

“It came up about me writing a book about all the crazy things we’d done,” Terry told Fox411. “…and he told me, ‘That’s great Terry, you’re practically the only person who’s been with me from the beginning that’s not afraid to tell the truth.’”

The book covers a wide range of topics, including Waylon’s music to the outlaw’s drug use — both how he used and how he quit cold turkey.

Terry explains, “He said, ‘Betty Ford didn’t get me on it and she can’t get me off it,’ so he did it himself.”

I think he had the most fun with The Highwaymen so that would include Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson. Get those four guys up on stage everyone knew once and for all who the singer was and that was Dad. They were all talented men in their own right, but Dad could sing.”
