A pregnant cheerleading coach and teacher at Tidwell Middle School in Texas was arrested on accusations of having sex with a 15-year-old former student and exchanging nude photos with him. Police received an anonymous tip back in December and launched a three-month investigation into Ruth Katherine Harper, which ended in her arrest last week.

The seventh-grade English teacher allegedly slept with the underage student multiple times last summer at both her home in Fort Worth and his in Trophy Club. The tip clued school officials in on the relationship and pointed out that Harper was pregnant. The 27-year-old is now eight months in to her pregnancy, but the affidavit does not explicitly state who the baby’s father is.
When questioned by a state Child Protective Services investigator and his high school principal, the teenager admitted to the multiple sexual encounters. Police confirmed that he and Harper communicated frequently via cell phone, and the student saved the explicit photos on his phone.
“One thing led to another, and she told me to ‘put it in,’ and I did,” he reportedly said.
School district officials initially received a tip about the relationship in September, but the investigation was closed due to a lack of details. However, it was reopened in December when more information was provided, and Harper was placed on administrative leave before being arrested. She was later released from jail after posting a $15,000 bond.
