Police are “desperate” for the community to help, because they don’t know who might have done this.

On Tuesday night a four-year-old-girl was shot in the head by a passing car during a rode rage incident on 1-90 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

“We have absolutely no suspect information at this time” Police Chief  Gorden Eden Jr. told NBC in a plea to the community to provide information. Eden explained the police were receiving conflicting information.

“This should have never happened. This is a complete disrespect of human life” Eden added.

Jonelle Tafoya believes she saw what prompted the shooting. She told police and KOB4 that she was driving her daughter home around the time of the incident.

“We were actually behind the two vehicles that were in the middle of the road rage incident: red truck, red sedan,” she recounted. “The red truck was not allowing the red car to pass [and] kept swerving from lane to lane to keep the vehicle behind them.” Fearful of what might happen, Tafoya pulled off the interstate and only later heard about the shooting.

“The dad explained there was some type of road rage incident. A car pulled up beside them and started firing rounds into the car,” Albuquerque Police Department spokesman said.

Both of the parents are safe, but their daughter died on the way to the hospital.
