Heather Jones, 31, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and child abuse charges in November 2016, receiving a life sentence and five years for the abuse charge. Now, the Kansas City Star reports that Michael Jones, 46, has also plead guilty to a count of first-degree murder in Wyandotte County District Court.

Prosecutors, according to the Star, concluded that their son Adrian had been “essentially starved to death.” In a horrifying revelation, court documents say Michael Jones fed Adrian’s body to pigs on their property. Adrian’s death took place sometime in September or October 2015, but police did not find his remains until December 2015.

Adrian’s death was never reported; the investigation began when police visited the Jones’ on a domestic abuse call and learned that Adrian had not been seen for months. They would find what was left of the child’s body in a barn on the property rented by the Jones parents.

Detectives and prosecutors alike said this was one of the worst abuse cases they had ever seen.
