Former Texas Governor Rick Perry, whose resume includes such illustrious feats as “Dancing with the Stars” cast-member, is reportedly President-elect Donald Trump’s pick to be the new United States Secretary of Energy.

Multiple sources reported on the head-scratching pick during a busy night that also saw the president-elect pick a new Secretary of State.

Perry, who once called Trump “a cancer on conservatism” and a “barking carnival act,” would occupy the position of that has been traditionally held by physicists in recent years.

NBC News notes that Perry has not always been a friend to the scientific community. At a presidential town hall in 2011, Perry criticized the very people he will reportedly represent before the President of the United States.

“I think there are a substantial number of scientists who have manipulated data so that they will have dollars rolling into their projects,” Perry said.

During another 2011 debate, Perry claimed that he meant to say the Department of Energy when he listed three government agencies that should be abolished. Perry could only name two departments and famously said “oops” when he couldn’t name a third.

If Perry is the next energy secretary, one can only hope that he is better at that post than he was at the cha-cha.
