Alex Murdaugh Admits to Taking Up to 60 Pills of Oxycodone a Day Before Murders of Wife and Son

More updates have come in during the homicide trial of Alex Murdaugh for the brutal murder of his wife and youngest son. Drugs are the topic of the newest details being discussed. Murdaugh has admitted to having dozens of pills on his person just a day before the killings took place.

His addiction ran so deep that he confessed to taking over 2,000mgs a day. “There were days where I took more than that,” Murdaugh shared.

Testify

Alex has been on the witness stand for two days in which, several personal details about his lifestyle and costly addiction have been exposed.

It has been revealed that his family was aware of his addiction for several years. Alex testified that there was a brief period of reprieve from the drugs in 2018. He attempted sobriety, but it wasn’t long until he succumbed to the disease.

On May 6, 2021, his youngest son, Paul, whose murder Alex is accused of, sent him a text message about Alex’s wife, and Paul’s mother, Maggie, discovered the drugs in his bag.

 “Mom found several bags of pills in your computer bag,” the text read.

Prosecutor Creighton Waters questioned Murdaugh about the frequency with which he took the pills. If “60” was an amount over time or just within a 24-hour period. Alex admitted that it could be more or less depending on the day.

He went on to say that he has developed a tolerance for the drugs over the years and it required more to give him the effects that he desired.

Murdaugh claims that it made his daily activities “more interesting.”
