The rain was pouring down, but something made him stop. He exited his vehicle and stood there for a moment, in the inclement weather. The photo has gone viral. And finally, for good reason: Corbett was paying tribute to the funeral procession of a World War II veteran.

Carole Chase-Draughan, the daughter of the veteran, noticed Corbett standing there in the rain. She later identified the deceased as Leonard C. Chuck Chase, a paratrooper with the United States Army who served during World War II with the 101st Airborne Division.

As they drove by, she noticed that Corbett had taken his helmet off and was standing there solemnly as they passed. Chase-Draughan was so moved that she took a photo and shared it with her local news affiliate:

The response was immediate

The photo has now been shared over 50,000 times, and people have been chiming in to tell stories about Corbett. Kelley Steward works with Corbett and wrote, “He’s off work today, one of the elderly [customers] on our route passed away last week and he’s going to pay his respects, ON HIS OFF DAY. this is a good guy all around!”

Another person chimed in to tell people how hard he works to give back to his community. “Not sure if he’s still involved, but for a long time Glenn helped coordinate the Stamp Out Hunger food drive for Manna Food Pantries,” Rachael Cox wrote. “He’s not only patriotic, but he’s incredibly compassionate and really cares about this community! Way to go Glenn!”

It was a simple gesture to show respect to a fallen patriot, but that simple gesture has touched a lot of hearts.
