Queen Elizabeth II has a bunch of nicknames The Royal Family uses behind closed doors, but the name her grandson Prince William gave to her is perhaps the best of all.

According to The Sun, Prince William reportedly called his grandmother “Gary” when he was a child because he had a difficult time pronouncing “Granny.”
“The Queen was on hand after William fell over at Buckingham palace, bawling: ‘Gary, Gary’,” The Daily Mail reported in 2015. “A guest who went to help asked who Gary was, assuming it must be a member of the royal household.”
“’I’m Gary,’ explained the Queen, as she scooped him up. ‘He hasn’t learned to say Granny yet,'” the Daily Mail added.
Prince William and Kate Middleton’s son, Prince George, has also made up a sweet nickname for his great-grandmother.
“George is only two-and-a-half and he calls her Gan-Gan,” Princess Kate said in a documentary about the monarch’s 90th birthday in 2016. “She always leaves a little gift or something in their room when we go and stay, and that just shows her love for the family.”
“Gan-Gan” was also what Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince Harry reportedly used to address their respective great-grandmothers.
