Right now, YouTube TV is only available in major cities on the east and west coasts: Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, and the San Francisco Bay Area. The expansion will bring it into Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas-Fort Worth, Detroit, Houston, Miami-Fort Lauderdale, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Orlando-Daytona Beach-Melbourne, Phoenix, and Washington, DC.

In an attempt to capitalize on the fact that less and less people are paying for cable-or even own a  television-YouTube is trying to get people to use its streaming service to watch TV instead. For a $35 monthly charge, users get the four major broadcast networks and 40 other cable channels, including sports channels like ESPN. You can watch on your smartphone or other internet-connected techno thing, and a cloud DVR lets you play shows at your leisure. You can also cast the stream to your TV, if you have one.

The new network is expanding slowly compared to other online cable options like Playstation Vue, because it has to strike a deal with every new city where it goes live. The ten newest markets are expected to be active within the next couple of weeks.
