Anne Heche Death Ruled An Accident

The Los Angeles County Coroner has officially ruled that Anne Heche’s death was an accident. Stating she perished due to thermal injuries and inhalation.

The actress had crashed her Mini Cooper into a Los Angeles home where both caught on fire. After taken to the hospital, she remained in a coma for nearly a week before medical experts revealed on Aug. 12 that she was not “expected to survive.” 

The actress was declared legally dead by doctors two days before her family decided to remove her from life support. Los Angeles police were initially investigating the crash as a felony DUI Collision. After she was declared brain dead police stated there would be no more investigative efforts. The information and the records that were previously requested would still be collected. 

Anne Heche’s Cause of Death Revealed

According to the coroner’s report, the 53-year-old also suffered a big sternal fracture due to the blunt trauma. According to the National Library of Medicine, a sternal fracture usually occurs after the chest strikes a steering wheel in a motor vehicle crash. Her body has now been released to the actor’s family.

Heche’s Career:

Heche is known for several films including Donnie Brasco, Six Days, Volcano, and Seven Nights to name a few.  She later went on to star on TV, appearing on shows such as Nip/Tuck, Everwood, and ABC’s Men in Trees.  

Her eldest son Homer Laffon, who she shares with ex-husband Corey Lafoon, paid tribute to his mother through a statement given to PEOPLE.  He stated, “After six days of almost unbelievable emotional swings, I am left with a deep, wordless sadness. Hopefully my mom is free from pain and beginning to explore what I like to imagine as her eternal freedom.”
