Anne Heche’s horrifying accident has left her fighting to stay alive. If she fully recovers, she may soon have to fight to stay out of jail.
Heche was not under the influence of alcohol, but was under the influence of cocaine and perhaps fentanyl when she crashed her car into a home last week, authorities said. The result was the home going up in flames and actress being rushed to the hospital.
Rumors are circulating throughout Hollywood that Heche intended to die.
The Los Angeles Police Department told TMZ that Heche had her blood tested and “in addition to cocaine, they also found fentanyl.” But fentanyl can sometimes be used as a pain med in hospitals, and it’s not yet been revealed exactly when Heche tested positive for the drug.
TMZ added that Heche’s “condition is dire” and she has not shown any improvement since suffering burns and being admitted to the hospital. She is said to be fighting for her life.
Heche, 53, drove her blue Mini Cooper into a garage; then into a home, which immediately caught on fire.
How is Heche right now?
People said it obtained a statement on Anne Heche’s condition from one of her representatives.
“She has a significant pulmonary injury requiring mechanical ventilation and burns that require surgical intervention,” the statement allegedly read. “She is in a coma and has not regained consciousness since shortly after the accident.”
Actor Thomas Jane, once romantically linked to Heche, released a statement to the Daily Mail in which he said that she is “expected to pull through.”
Actor James Tupper, who has a son with Heche, posted a message of his own to social media.
“Thoughts and prayers for this lovely woman, actress and mother tonight anneheche,” he wrote, “we love you.”
Back in 2000, Heche drove from Los Angeles to Fresno, parked her SUV on the roadside, and wearing only a bra and shorts, walked through the desert, stopping only to knock on the door of a stranger’s house. She later admitted to taking ecstasy at the time.
