At a New York City protest, Alec Baldwin took on Donald Trump “SNL”-style, even without the hair

On the eve of Donald Trump being sworn-in as the United States’ 45th president, a massive rally was staged in the streets of New York near the Trump International Hotel, and headlined by the man who plays Trump on TV — Alec Baldwin.

Joined by the likes of Robert De Niro, Michael Moore, Cynthia Nixon, Mark Ruffalo, Julianne Moore, Cher and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, the protest focused on fighting a perceived shift to authoritarianism under the Trump administration. Baldwin, often criticized by Trump on Twitter for his parody of him on “Saturday Night Live,” broke into his Trump character as he addressed the crowd.

“I just want to say, I’ve been standing out here in the freezing cold for a long time. I have to go to the bathroom — I have to pee,” Baldwin said, impersonating Trump. “But I’m holding it in, holding it in. I’m not going to pee. I’m going to a function at the Russian consulate tonight; I’m going to hold it in until I get there. And then when I get to the Russian consulate, I’m going to have a really, really long pee. Like the biggest pee I’ve ever had in my lifetime.”

Then Baldwin switched to his regular voice and got serious: “Are we going to have 100 days of resistance? Donald Trump and Steve Bannon and Mike Pence and all these people that are a part of Trump’s administration think you’re going to lay down,’ he said. ‘The one thing they don’t realize is New Yorkers never lay down. Our children are never too young to know what’s going on and to teach them what a real American is. And real Americans want full transparency of their government. These people are a disgrace… but there is hope.”

De Niro followed and said of Trump, “I don’t care where he goes, I just never thought he’d go to Washington. DeNiro called Trump “a bad example of this country and this city.”

Michael Moore, who helped to organize the rally, told the crowd, “We’re going to win, folks. A little bit of pain, a little bit of pain, but a lot of work on our part will stop this man. He will not last the four years. It’s a dangerous combination, a narcissist and a public official because it’s all about what’s in it for me; me, me, me, me, me, me, me. And when they think like that, that’s when they break the law, and that’s when he’ll go down.”
