Bill O’Reilly has faced a lot of controversy recently, and on Monday night he added to the pile when he laughed — as most Americans gasped — at disturbing footage of a bloodied United Airlines passenger being dragged off a plane bound for Louisville.

“I shouldn’t be laughing, but it’s just so bizarre,” O’Reilly said as he was about to introduce a Fox News reporter to discuss the disconcerting story.

O’Reilly is already facing difficulties. Droves of advertisers have ditched his program following the revelation that he and the network have paid $13 million in settlements to five women who accused him of sexual harassment.

O’Reilly’s reaction on air was very different to the majority of Americans. The United flight video quickly went viral and drew intense outrage.

The airline passenger who was forced from his seat was left bloodied and screaming in pain. He refused to get off the flight when aircraft crew asked him to vacate his seat to make room for a United employee who needed to get to Louisville for work. Officers then grabbed him from his seat and dragged him through the aisle.

Twitter users lambasted O’Reilly for giggling at a man who had his face bloodied and was apparently knocked out while being forcibly removed from a seat that he paid for.
