Fox News’ Jesse Watters is in hot water over an “O’Reily Factor” segment that contained several offensive Asian stereotypes.
During one of his “Watters World” segments at the end of the Bill O’Reily-hosted show, Watters took to New York City’s Chinatown to ask people about the 2016 campaign as well as U.S.-China relations. A few of Watters’ antics including bowing to a group of Asian women, accusing a man of selling stolen watches and asking another man if he knew karate.
The Washington Post reports that a Fox News spokeswoman pointed to a 2015 Independent Journal Review interview in which Watters said, “I don’t want to hurt anybody’s feelings. I go into it thinking how can I listen to them and have them share with me their thoughts and opinions in a way that doesn’t come across as mean.”
Watters sent the following tweets to clarify the intention of the segment — he did not issue a formal apology.
