In the hours since a video taken from a United Airlines flight has gone viral, the airline has been called on to explain why an unidentified man was physically removed from a flight. Reports from fellow passengers indicate that the man, who identified himself as a doctor, did not wish to comply after he was asked to move his flight due to an overbooking.

A video that went viral on Sunday night showed the screaming passenger injure his mouth after he was removed from his seat by police. The video shows the man being dragged across the floor of the airplane. It appears he is unconscious.

“After our team looked for volunteers, one customer refused to leave the aircraft voluntarily and law enforcement was asked to come to the gate. We apologize for the overbook situation. Further details on the removed customer should be directed to authorities,” a United spokesman said of the incident.
Following the release of the first video, other videos have appeared online. The new angles show a different perspective on the detainment. The new video shows that the man was pulled over at least one armrest into the aisle of the United plane. A man sitting in front of him tries to ignore the situation, but eventually investigates once the man starts screaming. When the screaming man is yanked into the aisle, he appears to hit his mouth on the armrest nearest the aisle.

The ordeal with the screaming passenger is not the first viral scandal involving United of 2017. In late March, social media reared its ugly head at the airliner after passengers saw United employees who were forced to change their clothes to adhere to the airline’s employee dress code.
