Injuries were the worst thing to happen when a crane crashed onto the top of the car. That actually is good news. Or at least decent news.

Frankly, it could have been a lot worse.
The incident took place earlier on Bedford Park Boulevard in New York City, and the driver of the car, Danielle Cruz, said she’s lucky to be alive.
“My back hurts, my neck hurts, my head hurts,” Cruz told CBS2.
She was sitting at a red light and on her way to class at Lehman College when suddenly, the crane collapsed on her vehicle.

“The firefighters had even told me that if I had driven, like, even like 2 inches forward that I would not be standing here today,” Cruz said. “After I was out of the car, I just thought about my parents and my family.”
Per the city’s Department of Buildings, the crane was lifting a load of metal from the trailer onto a roof near the light where Cruz’s vehicle sat. The arm of the crane failed in its mission, crashing to the earth.
The city hires construction companies to do its work. This particular company was among five sued by the city back in May, CBS2 reported.

“I hope that that construction company is held accountable,” Cruz said.
She later added, “I kinda feel like a little bit numb now, just, like, after crying so much, and the pain is settling in.”
