A black bear has found a good place to rest his weary head, and it just happens to be under the deck of a Connecticut home. But hey, the family that lives there doesn’t appear to mind.

“We are keeping the bear where he is since he is not bothering us,” said Tyler Dashukewich, the daughter in the home, via Fox News.

The bear was first discovered when Tyler’s father and his girlfriend were playing with the family dog in the backyard. They noticed that the dog was particularly interested in something near the deck.

Well, as it turned out, there was a sleepy bear under there.

The family placed some calls and was referred to the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP). They were told that they could “shine bright lights or make loud noised to try and make him come out or leave him there,” Tyler said.

Eventually, the family decided against it and is letting the bear get some beauty sleep right where it is. In fact, not only has the family let the bear stay — but they have named it Marty and created an Instagram account in its honor.

By the looks of things, Marty is a little camera-shy and would prefer not to be plastered on social media while sleeping.

Black bears can weigh up to 550 pounds, and their heart rate slows considerably when hibernating, per the DEEP website. Their population has grown considerably in Connecticut in recent years.
