Hip, hip, hooray!! These cops saved Christmas, give them the keys to the city! A terrible Grinch tried to ruin Christmas for one family, but thankfully, he failed! South Bend police officers were called to a home on Saturday afternoon after several items had been stolen from their home. Upon arrival, officers learned that the children’s Christmas gifts had all been tragically stolen.

The terrible news led officers to quickly get into action, reaching out to their FOP Lodge to see if they had any extra Christmas presents they could give to the family. Lucky for the family, there were still loose items that were able to be donated to the family, surprising the children with some epic gifts.
“We interrupt our road condition updates to bring you a video you need to see this Christmas Eve,” the South Bend Police Department shared on Facebook.

“Earlier today, day shift officers responded to a Breaking & Entering complaint at a home in South Bend. After talking to the homeowner, officers learned that Christmas gifts had been taken, leaving the children with nothing for the holidays,” they continued.
“Fortunately, officers were able to get in touch with the organizers of the South Bend FOP Lodge #36 Santa’s Elficers program, who advised they had some leftover gifts to share. Officers then came back to the residence with several boxes of Christmas presents and food for the family.”
“This is what serving our community is all about. ❤️,” they ended.
Honestly, the video is so sweet! You can see how happy these children are and how excited they are to open their presents. But what really does for me is seeing the officers’ faces light up as soon as the children see their gifts. That’s the true meaning of Christmas!
I bet they both went home and told their loved ones that they basically saved Christmas for family. Because let’s be honest, that’s exactly what they did!!!
